INFINITY MIRRORS is out today. This is an album of six instrumental pieces that I made in my home studio in two periods separated by almost six years. 4 of the pieces were recorded in early 2017 over the course of 4 evening sessions. In these sessions I entered my studio with nothing written or planned…the idea was to choose 4 instruments per piece and create spontaneously with these elements, accepting whatever happened in the flow of that evening session to be the finished piece. I had no specific plan to release them…these sessions were personal creative exercises, to get me out of my normal mode of music making and reconnect with the pure pleasure of making sound in an open ended way. I put them on the shelf, but In 2021 I revisited the pieces and felt then that I should return to the process at some point. A year later I encountered the beautiful book “Altered Landscapes” by photographer John Pfahl. One of the images in the book called “Salt Lake Angles” spoke to me, and inspired me to return to this process and create 2 more pieces, completing the album. I am deeply honored to have been granted permission to have this photograph on the cover of the album. Thank you to Mike Mannix at @centripetalforcerecords for his enthusiasm about the project. Patrick Sansone is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Nashville, TN. He formed The Autumn Defense with John Stirratt (Wilco) in 1999. They released 5 albums between 2000-2014. Sansone joined Wilco in 2004. Sansone has also released music that he recorded in the 1990s under the moniker Birdy On The Moon.
